Cognizant of the potential environmental impact of company operations in the wood processing, tourism, and light manufacturing sectors, FIRMA promotes environmentally sound practices in all supported activities. FIRMA strictly adheres to all environmental requirements stipulated by USAID and Sida. All FIRMA-supported activities undergo an initial screening to determine any potential environmental impact. Impact measurements are developed for those activities that have the potential to significantly impact the environment. Tools and skills to monitor environmental measures are provided to our partners.

FIRMA’s endeavors are not restricted only to ensuring compliance of FIRMA activities to USAID and Sida requirements. We actively work to increase awareness of the need for EU environmental standards, such as the ISO14000 series. These standards are often preferred by environmentally-conscious buyers in the EU. FIRMA strives to increase economic activity in an environmentally sustainable manner.
