Wood Sector

The BiH wood sector comprises forestry, primary wood processing, and value added production, including furniture, joinery, and cabinetry. It has historically been one of the most important sectors of the BiH economy. Deep traditional expertise exists throughout forest management and wood processing. BiH wood sector exports grew strongly over the five years prior the recent global recession. The wood sector now accounts for close to 10% of BiH GDP. Wood products are one of the largest components of BiH exports, and the only major product sector with a substantially positive overall trade balance.
